Family Lives – Family and parenting support

Family Lives is a national family support charity. Visit www.familylives.org.uk for useful information about all aspects of parenting and family life.  The website also offers parenting videos, online chat forums and parenting courses. Family Information Services

Your local Family Information Service can provide information on a wide range of family services including family support, activities in your area, education and childcare.

Your Local Authority

Can help you find housing during your pregnancy. Some local authorities provide specialised accommodation where young mothers can live independently while getting support and advice from trained workers.

Support for children with Special Educational Needs

Different local authorities have their own information about assessment, support plans and the Local Offer for SEND.  You can also ask your GP and your child’s educational setting if you think your child might need additional support.

Gingerbread

Provides information and advice on a wide range of topics particularly relevant to single parent families.  Visit www.gingerbread.org.uk/ or call the free helpline on 0808 802 0925.  They also have local ‘friendship groups’.

NetMums

Tommy’s Charity

Information about pregnancy and birth; and support for baby loss during pregnancy or the neonatal period. Visit www.tommys.org
